Dog treats and outdoor gear that go the distance — just like your adventures together.
Best Mate Pets NZ started from curiosity and a love for giving dogs better options.
The founders, inspired by outdoor time with their dog, wanted treats and gear that matched a dog’s natural energy and instincts. Their search led them to a centuries-old Himalayan method of turning milk into a hard, protein-rich chew. That idea became the Himalayan K9Chew — a product that offers nutrition and a safer alternative to rawhide.
The initial batches quickly gained loyal customers, and the brand began to expand. With each order, owners provided feedback, expressing their satisfaction in seeing their dogs fully engaged with a chew that lasted much longer.
Building on that momentum, Best Mate Pets NZ expanded beyond treats and into practical gear, guided by the same principle: designing with a dog’s lifestyle in mind, not just the pet aisle shelf.
Today, their catalogue pairs two distinct but connected ranges.
The K9Chew line offers size-specific options for everything from small breeds to giants, each made from simple, digestible ingredients.
Alongside it, the Best Mate Outdoors range delivers sturdy bowls, reflective collars, portable beds, and their cleverly designed Tri-Twist water bottle. Every piece reflects a focus on functionality and durability, tested in real outdoor conditions before reaching the market.
