Aquarium Co-Op is an online and retail source for aquarium supplies built around freshwater fishkeeping, offering fertilizers, filtration, fish food, medications and aquascaping tools for hobbyists setting up or maintaining a planted tank.
Founder Cory McElroy opened the original store in Edmonds, Washington in 2013, working as a fish store manager before starting his own roughly 900 square foot shop focused on quality bred fish and plants. The company has since grown into a full online retailer, and its own tagline, Making Aquariums Easy Since 2013, still frames how it positions its products today. The clearest example of that positioning is Easy Green, an all in one liquid fertilizer that has collected more than 5000 customer reviews on the company’s own site and anchors a wider Easy branded fertilizer line that includes Easy Iron for red plant coloration, Easy Potassium for heavy feeders like java fern, and Easy Root Tabs for root feeding plants such as Amazon swords.
Beyond fertilizers, Aquarium Co-Op stocks sponge filters, pre filter attachments, water test strips, breeding supplies and live aquarium plants, giving a hobbyist a way to source most of what a planted freshwater tank needs from one supplier rather than combining several specialty retailers.Aquarium Co-Op backs its retail catalog with a large educational library, including a blog, a YouTube channel, a podcast and an active hobbyist forum, reflecting founder Cory McElroy’s background as a recognized voice in the fishkeeping community and former board member of the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society.
The company also runs a Retail Partner Program that supplies its products wholesale to independent fish stores, and it operates a membership club offering members only access to select scratch and dent product sales. Orders over 74.99 dollars ship free.
For hobbyists building a planted freshwater aquarium from scratch or troubleshooting an existing one, Aquarium Co-Op combines its own developed product line with an extensive library of hobbyist education under one roof.
