Lynn of PreCat featured in a PETBIZS interview about OEM and Private Label Cat Litter Manufacturer services.

As an OEM/private label cat litter manufacturer with a growing presence in the global market, PreCat owes much of its direction to Lynn, the business owner steering its manufacturing operations and international partnerships. Working from PreCat’s production base in China, she has built a company that supports pet brands, distributors, retailers, and private label businesses across markets on nearly every continent.

The company manufactures six core formulas, bentonite, tofu, cassava, crystal, pine, and mixed cat litter, alongside a full range of services that include product development, custom packaging, OEM production, quality testing, and export support. Few manufacturers offer that entire chain under one roof, which is part of what has made PreCat a name buyers keep coming back to.

Lynn is the one holding these pieces together. She shapes the company’s product standards, works directly on buyer relationships, and thinks ahead toward where PreCat needs to grow next.

In this PETBIZS interview, she walks through PreCat’s manufacturing journey from its early years to today, how cat owner preferences have shifted over time, where the real opportunity sits in private label partnerships, and how the company handles quality control and sustainable materials. She also speaks candidly about the challenges of serving buyers across dozens of countries, and what any business should weigh carefully before choosing a cat litter manufacturer in China.

Let’s start.

Lynn, thank you for joining PETBIZS. Before discussing OEM/private-label cat litter manufacturing, could you introduce yourself and share what first connected you to the cat litter industry?

Thank you for having me. I am Lynn, founder of PreCat, an OEM/private label cat litter manufacturer based in Yantai, Shandong, one of China’s largest pet industry clusters. My path into this industry started long before PreCat existed, when I saw how much pet owners cared about the small daily details of caring for a cat, and how little attention manufacturers paid to the litter itself at the time.

Though cat litter looked like a simple commodity from the outside, once I understood the chemistry behind clumping, dust control, and odor absorption, I realized there was real room to build something better. That curiosity turned into a business, and two decades later it still drives how PreCat approaches every formula we develop.

What opportunity did you identify that encouraged you to build PreCat as an OEM/private label cat litter manufacturer in China?

I noticed a gap between what pet brands wanted to offer and what factories were actually capable of producing.

Many manufacturers treated cat litter as a low margin bulk product, so quality and consistency suffered. At the same time, independent pet brands were emerging worldwide with no reliable way to access private label cat litter production without massive minimum order quantities or long, unpredictable lead times.

I built PreCat to close that gap, combining factory direct pricing with the flexibility, documentation, and communication that growing pet brands actually need.

PreCat traces its manufacturing journey to 2004. What were the company's earliest operations like, and what challenges shaped its direction?

In 2004, we started with a small production line and a narrow product range, focused mainly on standard bentonite cat litter for regional buyers.

However, these early years taught us hard lessons about raw material consistency, since bentonite quality varies significantly by source and season. We also learned quickly that export buyers expected documentation and testing standards that many domestic factories at the time simply did not provide.

Those early challenges pushed us to invest in quality control long before it became an industry expectation, and that decision shaped the company we are today.

When did you realize PreCat could grow beyond domestic production and serve global cat litter brands?

The shift happened once our first export orders came back with repeat business rather than one time purchases. That told us international buyers valued consistency more than the lowest possible price, and it gave us confidence to invest in export focused certifications, English language documentation, and a team that could manage international logistics.

Within a few years, overseas orders grew from an occasional opportunity into the core of our business, and we restructured the company around serving global private label and wholesale cat litter customers.

PreCat has grown from a smaller operation into a large manufacturing facility. Which decisions contributed most to that development?

Three decisions stand out.

  • First, we committed early to automated production lines rather than relying purely on manual labor, which improved consistency at scale.
  • Second, we built an in house research and development lab staffed with our own scientists instead of outsourcing formula work, which let us respond quickly to buyer requests.
  • Third, we chose to expand our facility in Yantai rather than open scattered smaller sites, keeping quality control centralized under one roof spanning roughly 30,000 square meters today.

Together, these choices let us scale output without sacrificing the batch to batch consistency our clients depend on.

PreCat serves hundreds of brands across more than 50 countries. What has this global experience taught you about regional buyer expectations?

Every region brings its own priorities. For example;

  • European buyers tend to prioritize environmental certifications and flushability.
  • North American buyers focus heavily on dust control and odor performance because litter boxes are often kept indoors in smaller living spaces.
  • And buyers across Asia frequently ask about tracking control and pellet size for smaller breed cats.

Working across these markets taught me that there is no single formula that satisfies every buyer. Understanding local retail shelves, climate conditions, and consumer habits is just as important as the raw material itself.

You manufacture six main cat litter categories. How do you help buyers select the right product for their market?

We walk buyers through their target market, retail price point, and consumer priorities before recommending a product line.

A buyer entering a value focused mass market usually starts a conversation about bentonite cat litter, while a brand targeting eco conscious consumers is often better served by tofu or cassava litter. On the other hand, buyers targeting a premium, low maintenance segment frequently ask about crystal litter, and those wanting a completely natural positioning without fragrance additives lean toward pine.

We also support custom mixed formulas that blend materials for brands that want a distinct product story. The goal is always matching the formula to the buyer’s actual customer, not simply selling what is easiest to produce.

Bentonite cat litter remains popular across many price segments. What performance standards define a high quality bentonite formula?

Yes, you are right. Bentonite cat litter is an all time popular product.

However, a strong bentonite formula needs to clump quickly and hold together under weight, since a clump that breaks apart during scooping defeats the purpose of the product. We target clumping strength around four kilograms and keep dust levels below half a percent, because dust is one of the biggest complaints pet owners raise about lower grade bentonite. In addition, odor control over several days and consistent granule size across every bag also matter, since visible inconsistency between batches damages a brand’s reputation even when performance is technically fine.

Tofu cat litter has gained interest among buyers seeking plant based options. What features do importers examine before choosing a tofu cat litter supplier?

One thing is common, and that is that importers usually start with clumping strength and dust performance, since tofu litter needs to compete with bentonite on functionality even though it markets itself on sustainability.

In this context, we aim for clumping strength around thirty newtons and dust below zero point one percent, figures that matter to buyers who plan to make flushability and biodegradability part of their marketing claims. Beyond the technical specification, importers also ask about raw material sourcing and whether the tofu base is genuinely plant derived rather than a blended filler product marketed loosely as tofu litter.

How does cassava cat litter differ from tofu litter regarding clumping strength, consumer positioning, and retail pricing?

Cassava litter is made from tapioca starch and typically clumps even more firmly than tofu, often reaching thirty five newtons or higher in our testing, which makes it appealing to buyers who want the firmest possible clump in the plant based category.

Besides, it also tends to appeal to allergy aware consumers looking for a soy free alternative, since some buyers specifically want to avoid soy based tofu litter for that reason.

While talking about pricing, cassava generally sits in the same premium eco tier as tofu, though the exact position depends on regional demand and how strongly a brand markets the soy free angle.

What type of market or customer usually prefers crystal cat litter over clumping alternatives?

Crystal litter appeals most to higher income consumers who want extended odor control with minimal daily maintenance, since it does not require the daily scooping routine that clumping litters demand. It works through absorption and a color changing saturation indicator rather than forming solid clumps, so buyers targeting premium retail shelves or subscription based ecommerce brands often choose it. It is less common in value focused mass market channels, where clumping bentonite remains the expected format.

Pine and mixed cat litter serve different consumer needs, including blends that combine materials such as tofu, bentonite, cassava, pine, and activated carbon. How does your team evaluate demand before developing these product lines?

We start by looking at what a buyer’s target consumer already uses and what frustrates them about it. For example;

  • Pine litter appeals to a smaller but loyal segment that specifically wants a completely natural, fragrance free product, often in markets like parts of Europe where pine has a long established presence.
  • Mixed formulas come from a different kind of demand, where a brand wants a distinctive product that combines the odor control of activated carbon with the clumping strength of tofu or bentonite, for example.

Before developing any blend, our research team reviews sample requests, buyer feedback, and competitor products in the target market to confirm there is genuine demand rather than building a formula based on assumption alone.

How does PreCat's in house research team turn a buyer's product concept into a commercial cat litter formula?

The process starts with a detailed conversation about the buyer’s goals, whether that is a specific clumping strength, a fragrance profile, or a sustainability claim they want to support with real data.

Our research and development lab, staffed by around a dozen scientists, then builds trial batches and tests them against our internal performance benchmarks. We share samples with the buyer, gather feedback, and adjust the formula through several rounds if needed. Most projects move from initial concept to an approved prototype within one to two weeks, which keeps the process fast without skipping the testing that protects product quality.

Which technical measurements matter most when testing clumping strength, dust control, absorption, tracking, and odor performance?

Clumping strength is measured in newtons or kilograms depending on the material, showing how much force a clump withstands before breaking apart. Dust control is measured as a percentage of fine particulate released during handling, and we hold most product lines below half a percent. Absorption rate tells us how quickly the litter takes in liquid, which affects both clumping speed and odor control. Tracking is assessed by measuring how much litter sticks to a paw and gets carried outside the box, and odor performance is tested across multiple days under controlled conditions to confirm the number of days a formula genuinely controls smell rather than just masking it temporarily.

How do Certificates of Analysis help buyers verify consistency across different production batches?

Every batch we produce leaves the factory with a Certificate of Analysis documenting the specific test results for that run, including clumping strength, dust level, moisture content, and other relevant parameters. This gives buyers a paper trail they can compare against previous shipments, so if a batch ever drifts from expected performance, it shows up in the documentation immediately rather than surfacing only as a customer complaint months later.

For buyers selling into retail channels with strict compliance requirements, having a Certificate of Analysis on file for every shipment also simplifies audits and reduces the risk of disputes.

What quality control challenges appear most often within large scale cat litter manufacturing, and how has PreCat responded when a client's litter drew complaints about sticky clumps, excessive dust, tracking, or poor odor control?

The most common challenge is raw material variability, since natural inputs like bentonite clay or tofu pulp change slightly depending on the source and season, and that variability can quietly shift performance if it is not caught early.

When a client reports an issue like sticky clumps or excessive dust, our first step is always pulling the retained sample and Certificate of Analysis from that specific batch to identify exactly where the deviation occurred. From there, we adjust the formula or processing parameters and run a new trial batch before resuming full production.

Treating every complaint as a data point rather than a one off incident is what keeps recurring problems from becoming a pattern.

How does PreCat reduce formula variation when raw materials change between seasons or suppliers?

We test incoming raw materials before they ever reach the production line, checking moisture content, particle size, and other properties against our internal specifications.

When a shipment falls outside acceptable range, our formulation team adjusts processing parameters to compensate, rather than allowing the variation to pass through into the finished product.

Moreover, we also maintain relationships with multiple qualified raw material suppliers instead of depending on a single source, which reduces the risk of a sudden shift in input quality affecting an entire production run.

What product safety concerns do cat owners raise most often about dust, fragrance, ingestion, and chemical residues?

A few concerns that cat owners raise often include;

  • Dust is the most frequent concern, since visible dust clouds when pouring litter make owners worry about respiratory effects for both cats and people in the home.
  • Fragrance comes next, particularly among owners of cats with sensitivities, who often specifically look for unscented options.
  • Ingestion concerns come up mostly around kittens, since young cats sometimes chew on litter, so buyers ask us about ingestion safety data for their formulas.
  • Chemical residue questions usually relate to processing aids or binding agents, and we address that by providing full ingredient transparency and safety documentation so brands can answer these questions confidently with their own customers.

How does PreCat assess cat litter for kittens, sensitive cats, multi-cat homes, and automatic litter boxes?

  • For kittens, we prioritize formulas with lower dust and reduced ingestion risk, since younger cats explore more with their mouths.
  • For sensitive cats, we typically recommend unscented, low dust formulas with gentle textures on the paw.
  • Multi-cat homes need higher absorption capacity and stronger odor control because the box handles more waste between cleanings, so we often recommend our higher performance bentonite or crystal lines for that use case.

With all this, automatic litter boxes bring their own requirements, since the granule size and clumping behavior have to work reliably with mechanical raking mechanisms, so we test formulas specifically for compatibility with popular automatic box designs before recommending them for that channel.

Some shoppers assume every "natural" litter offers the same safety profile. How should brands communicate such claims accurately?

We believe, brands should be specific rather than relying on the word natural alone, since it carries no fixed regulatory definition and can mean very different things depending on the product.

If a formula is genuinely free of synthetic fragrance, say so directly. If it is biodegradable under specific conditions, state those conditions rather than implying it breaks down anywhere. We encourage every client to back sustainability and safety claims with real test data or certification, because vague natural language eventually invites scrutiny, while specific and accurate claims build long term trust with consumers.

How do you balance strong odor control with growing consumer demand for unscented cat litter?

This is one of the more interesting formulation challenges we work on.

Rather than relying on fragrance to mask odor, we focus on the underlying absorption chemistry and materials that neutralize odor at the source, such as activated carbon blends or optimized bentonite structures. This approach lets us offer strong odor control performance in a completely unscented formula, which matters increasingly to buyers targeting sensitive consumers or markets where fragrance additives face more scrutiny.

What does a complete private label cat litter project involve, from the first brief to commercial production?

It begins with understanding the buyer’s target market, product type, and packaging vision, followed by sample development and testing, which usually ships within about a week.

Once the buyer approves the formula, our design team builds custom packaging artwork, typically allowing several rounds of revision before final approval. We then sign a confidentiality agreement to protect the formula and brand identity, lock in a production schedule, and manufacture the order against agreed specifications.

On average, a private label project moves from initial brief to first shipment in about twenty five days, though timelines vary depending on order complexity and packaging requirements.

What information should a buyer prepare before contacting an OEM cat litter manufacturer?

Buyers get the most out of an initial conversation when they can share their target market, expected order volume, preferred product type, and any packaging or branding direction they already have in mind. It also helps to know the retail price point they are aiming for, since that shapes which product line makes the most sense.

At the same time, buyers do not need deep technical knowledge of cat litter chemistry going in, since a good manufacturing partner should guide that part of the conversation, but having clarity on the business side speeds up the entire process significantly.

How does your team develop custom fragrances, pellet sizes, colors, absorption levels, and mixed material formulas?

Each of these starts as a specific request from a buyer, which our formulation team translates into trial batches.

  • Fragrance development involves testing scent strength and longevity against the base material, since some fragrances interact differently with bentonite than with tofu or cassava.
  • Pellet size and color are adjusted during processing and tested for consistency across production runs.
  • Absorption level often ties back to the intended use case, whether that is a multi cat household or a lighter single cat home.
  • Mixed formulas require the most iteration, since we are balancing the properties of two or more materials to make sure the blend performs as a cohesive product rather than simply combining two ingredients side by side.

How does PreCat support clients who lack packaging designs or experience with pet product labeling?

Our in house design team builds complete packaging from scratch when a client does not already have artwork, typically offering several rounds of free revisions until the design matches their brand vision. We also provide guidance on labeling requirements for different markets, since regulatory expectations for ingredient disclosure, weight declarations, and safety warnings vary by country.

This support matters most for first time brand owners, who often underestimate how much labeling compliance affects whether a shipment clears customs and reaches retail shelves without delay.

Formula ownership can concern private label brands. How do confidentiality agreements protect their product concepts and commercial identity?

Agreed. However, we sign a mutual non disclosure agreement before any formula development begins, which legally protects the buyer’s product concept and prevents us from sharing or replicating it for another client.

For brands that want stronger protection, we also offer exclusive formula arrangements at higher monthly volumes, meaning a specific formula is reserved solely for that brand. Over twenty years of manufacturing, we have maintained a clean record with no formula confidentiality breaches, which we consider one of the most important trust markers for a private label partner.

What order quantities allow new cat litter brands to test demand without taking excessive inventory risks?

Our standard minimum order quantity starts at one tonne for most product lines, and buyers can even combine different litter types within a single container at that same one tonne level per product.

This structure was built specifically for new brands that want to test market response with a manageable inventory commitment rather than locking into a full container of a single product before knowing how customers will respond. Once a brand confirms demand, scaling up to larger or full container orders becomes a straightforward next step.

What has driven demand for eco friendly cat litter across Europe, North America, and Asian markets?

Consumer awareness of sustainability has grown steadily across all three regions, but the specific drivers differ slightly. For example;

  • In Europe, regulatory pressure and established recycling infrastructure make biodegradable and flushable claims especially valuable to retailers.
  • In North America, consumer demand for plant based and allergy friendly products has pushed brands toward tofu and cassava litter as bentonite alternatives.
  • Across parts of Asia, smaller living spaces and dust sensitivity concerns have made low dust, naturally derived formulas increasingly popular.

However, across all three regions, the common thread is that consumers increasingly expect environmental claims to be backed by real documentation rather than marketing language alone.

Flushable cat litter attracts buyers, yet disposal rules differ by location. How should brands explain responsible use?

Brands need to be clear that flushable does not mean flushable everywhere, since septic systems, older plumbing infrastructure, and local wastewater regulations vary widely by location.

We recommend brands include specific disposal guidance on packaging, encouraging consumers to check local rules and avoid flushing in septic systems or regions where wastewater treatment cannot handle it.

Being upfront about these limitations protects both the consumer’s plumbing and the brand’s reputation, and it is a more responsible approach than letting the word flushable stand alone without context.

What steps has PreCat taken to reduce packaging waste or offer recyclable and recycled content bags?

We have expanded our packaging options to include recyclable materials and bags made with recycled content, giving brands a way to align their packaging with the sustainability claims they make about the litter itself. We also work with clients on right sizing packaging to reduce excess material, since oversized bags relative to product volume waste resources without adding value for the consumer.

This is an area we continue investing in, since packaging sustainability has become just as important to buyers as the environmental profile of the litter formula.

How do you verify environmental claims and prevent sustainability language from becoming empty marketing?

We only support environmental claims that are backed by real test data or third party certification, including documentation aligned with recognized standards like the EU Ecolabel or Nordic Swan where relevant.

If a buyer wants to market a formula as biodegradable or flushable, we make sure the underlying product actually meets the technical definition of those terms rather than approving language for marketing convenience.

This discipline protects our clients from regulatory or reputational risk, and it protects consumers from misleading claims that erode trust in the entire eco friendly cat litter category over time.

What are the main sourcing challenges faced by businesses importing wholesale cat litter from China?

The biggest challenges are usually unfamiliarity with shipping documentation, uncertainty about supplier reliability, and difficulty verifying product quality before goods arrive.

Many first time importers also underestimate how heavy cat litter is relative to its value, which makes freight cost a much bigger factor in total landed cost than buyers initially expect.

Working with a manufacturer that provides clear documentation, sample testing, and transparent communication removes most of these obstacles, but buyers sourcing without that support often face delays or unexpected costs late in the process.

How do you support first time importers who lack experience with shipping documents, customs requirements, and container planning?

We guide first time importers through the entire logistics process, from explaining which documents customs authorities in their country typically require to helping plan container loads that make efficient use of available space. Our team communicates in both English and Chinese and responds to buyer questions within a set timeframe, since logistics questions often come up urgently close to a shipping deadline. For buyers who have never imported from China before, having a manufacturing partner walk through the process step by step significantly reduces the anxiety and risk of that first shipment.

Cat litter is heavy, and shipping costs greatly affect margins. How does container load optimization reduce landed costs?

Because cat litter is dense and heavy, freight cost per unit can quickly erode a brand’s margin if a container is not loaded efficiently.

We plan loads to maximize usable container weight and volume simultaneously, which is not always straightforward since some products are weight limited while others are volume limited. Combining multiple product types or packaging formats within a single container, when the buyer’s order allows it, also reduces the number of shipments needed overall.

Clients who work closely with our logistics team on load planning have reduced landed cost by a significant margin compared to less optimized shipping arrangements.

When should buyers choose full container shipping, consolidated loads, or bulk tone packaging?

Well, full container shipping makes sense once a brand has confirmed steady demand and can commit to a larger volume, since it offers the best per unit freight cost. And consolidated loads work well for newer brands testing multiple products or smaller order volumes, since they allow access to container level efficiency without needing to fill an entire container of one product. Bulk tone packaging, using large FIBC ton bags rather than individual retail bags, suits buyers who plan to repackage locally or supply institutional and wholesale channels rather than direct retail.

We help buyers weigh order volume, storage capacity, and end market against these options before committing to a shipping method.

How does PreCat manage production schedules and delivery commitments during seasonal demand peaks?

We plan production capacity ahead of known seasonal peaks by reviewing historical order patterns with existing clients and building buffer capacity into our schedule.

Every order is locked to a confirmed production slot rather than an estimated timeframe, which prevents the kind of scheduling conflicts that cause delays during busy periods.

For clients with predictable seasonal demand, we also encourage placing orders earlier in the cycle, which gives our production team room to plan efficiently and maintain our on time shipment performance even during peak months.

What mistakes should buyers avoid when comparing cat litter factory prices from different suppliers?

The most common mistake is comparing headline unit prices without confirming that specifications, packaging, and testing standards are actually equivalent between suppliers.

A lower price often reflects a lighter weight bag, a less rigorous quality control process, or the absence of a Certificate of Analysis, none of which show up until after the order arrives. Buyers should also ask directly about lead time reliability, since a cheaper factory with unpredictable delivery can end up costing more once stockouts or expedited shipping fees enter the picture.

Comparing suppliers on total value rather than price alone leads to far better long term partnerships.

Beyond the factory price, which costs should pet brands calculate before setting their retail margins?

Freight and duty costs are often the largest hidden factor, especially given how heavy cat litter is relative to its value.

Brands should also account for packaging design and printing costs, warehousing once goods arrive, any local repackaging or labeling requirements, and payment processing or currency conversion fees if applicable.

Building a full landed cost model that includes every one of these factors, rather than working from the factory price alone, gives brands a much more accurate picture of their actual margin before they set retail pricing.

How does PreCat support clients after their first shipment reaches the market?

Our support does not end at delivery.

To every client, we assign a dedicated account manager who stays in contact after the shipment arrives, gathering feedback on product performance and customer response. If a brand wants formula adjustments based on early market feedback, we treat that as a normal part of an ongoing partnership rather than a separate project.

We also help returning clients plan future orders around demand trends we observe together, so the relationship grows into a long term collaboration rather than a single transaction.

What feedback from international partners has led to meaningful product or service improvements?

Some of our most useful improvements have come directly from client feedback about real world use cases we had not fully anticipated, such as specific granule size requirements for compatibility with popular automatic litter box models. In addition, feedback about packaging durability during long ocean freight routes also led us to strengthen certain bag specifications.

We treat every piece of client feedback as valuable input rather than simply a complaint to resolve, since our international partners are closer to end consumer behavior in their markets than we are, and that perspective consistently improves our products.

Which cat litter formats, materials, or retail concepts show the strongest growth potential?

Plant based options like tofu and cassava litter continue to show the strongest growth, driven by consumer demand for flushable and biodegradable products. Mixed formula litters are also gaining traction as brands look for a distinctive product story that a single material formula cannot offer on its own.

On the retail concept side, subscription based ecommerce models are creating strong demand for crystal litter specifically, since its longer lasting performance fits naturally with a scheduled replenishment model rather than frequent in store purchases.

How are automatic litter boxes influencing granule size, dust control, absorption, and clumping requirements?

Automatic litter boxes have raised the bar significantly on consistency, since mechanical raking systems depend on uniform granule size and reliable clumping behavior to function correctly without jamming or malfunctioning. Dust control matters even more in this context, since automatic boxes recirculate litter more frequently than a manually scooped box, which can aggravate dust related problems if the formula is not properly controlled.

We now test several of our formulas specifically for compatibility with popular automatic box brands before recommending them for that growing segment of the market.

Do you expect private label cat litter brands to gain more market share against large established labels?

Yes, I believe private label brands will continue gaining ground, particularly in the plant based and specialty categories where large established labels have moved more slowly to innovate. Private label brands can respond faster to niche consumer demand, whether that is a soy-free formula, an unscented, sensitive cat option, or a fragrance profile suited to a specific regional market.

As manufacturing partners like PreCat continue to lower the barrier to entry through low minimum order quantities and fast sample turnaround, more independent brands will be able to compete directly with larger, established names.

Which countries or regions represent PreCat's next major growth opportunities?

We see strong growth potential across Southeast Asia and Latin America, where pet ownership is rising quickly and local cat litter production has not kept pace with demand, creating an opening for reliable import partnerships. We also see continued opportunity within North America and Europe, particularly among smaller independent brands that want a manufacturing partner capable of supporting eco friendly product lines with proper certification and documentation.

However, rather than chasing every region at once, we focus on markets where we can genuinely support buyers with the logistics and communication a new relationship requires.

What advice would you give entrepreneurs preparing to launch their first private label cat litter brand?

Start with a clear picture of your target customer before choosing a product type, since the right formula depends entirely on who you are selling to and what problem they are trying to solve. Take advantage of low minimum order quantities to test the market before committing to large inventory, and do not skip the sample and testing phase just to save time, since catching a formula problem before full production is far cheaper than catching it after launch. Finally, choose a manufacturing partner who communicates clearly and provides real documentation, since that relationship will matter far more to your long term success than shaving a small amount off the unit price.

How do you want buyers, distributors, and retailers to describe PreCat after working with your team?

I want them to describe PreCat as dependable above all else, a manufacturer that does what it says it will do, delivers on the schedule it commits to, and stands behind the data it provides. Quality and innovation matter, but reliability is what actually earns repeat business over years rather than a single order. If a buyer can plan their own business around trusting our delivery dates and our documentation, then we have done our job.

What manufacturing capabilities or product innovations do you plan to develop next?

We are continuing to expand our mixed formula capabilities, since demand for distinctive blended products keeps growing among brands that want something beyond a single material litter. We are also investing further in sustainable packaging options and expanding our certification coverage to support buyers targeting markets with stricter environmental compliance requirements.

On the research side, we continue refining odor control technology that does not rely on fragrance, since that balance between performance and a fragrance free product remains one of the more difficult problems in this category.

Lynn, thank you for sharing your experience with PETBIZS. As we close, what message would you like to leave for cat litter brands seeking a dependable manufacturing partner?

Thank you for having me.

My message to any brand considering a manufacturing partner is simple: ask for the data, ask for the documentation, and ask what happens when something goes wrong, because how a factory responds to a problem tells you more than any marketing claim ever will.

At PreCat, we built our reputation over twenty years by treating every formula, every batch, and every shipment with the same level of care regardless of order size. Whether a brand is placing its very first one tonne order or scaling toward full container volumes, that same standard applies, and it is what I hope every partner walks away describing about working with us.

Lynn’s conversation with PETBIZS makes one thing clear: behind every bag of cat litter sits a long chain of decisions, from raw material sourcing to formula testing to the logistics that get a shipment safely across the world. Two decades in, she still approaches each of those decisions with the same attention that built PreCat’s reputation in the first place.

For pet brands, distributors, and retailers evaluating an OEM cat litter manufacturer, her insights offer a rare, honest look at what real partnership with a factory should look like, backed by data, documentation, and a willingness to solve problems rather than hide them.

PETBIZS thanks Lynn for her time and candor, and looks forward to following PreCat’s continued growth across global markets.
